ACE Landscape Services were engaged by Nillumbik Shire Council to Design & Construct a playspace with a high level of play experiences for all ages and abilities, within a unique landscape setting which reflects the proximity to the Diamond Creek.
Works involved engaging in community consultations and incorporating both public and council feedback into the design of the playspace. ACE created a nature themed playspace, while also acknowledging Diamond Creeks’ Gold Mining history. ACE created a Parkour playground, which was designed to reflect a similar Mine Poppet Head which once stood in Diamond Creek. Gold painted rocks have been sprinkled into the sandpit area for children to find. There is also a number of timber carvings, one being of a gold miner.
There were two additional areas added into ACE’s scope throughout the works, being the design and construction of the Tram Café landscape area, as well as a labyrinth. A labyrinth is a simple non-intrusive contemplative pathway set in the landscape used for walking exercise and meditation. The concept is often described as a stress management space and a spiritual place to relax. The labyrinth’s location is hidden away from the main path ways, nestled along the banks of the winding Diamond Creek.
ACE Landscape was involved in the following scope of works:
Full design of playspace, tram café landscape and labyrith areas
Supply & installation of all playground equipment
Supply & installation of associated hard & soft landscaping
